(WKBW/Cleveland Clinic) It's the season for tomatoes and watermelon, so eat up!

A new study shows they could be the "all-natural" way to help lower your cholesterol.

The report from Australia finds lycopene, a carotenoid found in foods like tomatoes and watermelon, can help lower LDL or "bad" cholesterol.

Researchers found that 25 milligrams or more of lycopene a day is as effective as low doses of statin drugs, lowering bad cholesterol by 10-percent without the side-effects like muscle pain or weakness.
