(WKBW) Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital is looking for state approval to expand its services.
It has filed a Certificate of Need with the State Department of Health to provide critical care for babies, partnering with Buffalo's Women and Children's Hospital on the 10-bed neonatal intensive care unit at the Amherst hospital.
The suite will be located on the second floor, adjacent to the labor and delivery program.
Kaleida officials say this will eliminate the need for at-risk newborns to be transported to a separate facility and risk further medical complications.
