BUFFALO (WKBW) The hundreds of blue and gold clad hockey fans who milled into the First Niagara Center for the Sabres draft party didn't have to wait long to see the home town team take their second overall pick. And when they did, cheers immediately filled the building.

"I'm pretty happy about this pick. I think Sam Reinhart will bring a lot of talent to the Sabres, he's gonna put up a lot of points for us," one Sabres fan said.

"Hopefully he's going to be the cornerstone of the whole organization and that we're actually going to go somewhere and a lot of positive things going forward," another added.

But the fans at the arena aren't the only Western New Yorkers focused intensely on the draft.

Frank Hora is an 18 year old defenseman and draft prospect from Cheektowaga, who could be picked in the later rounds of the draft to be held tomorrow.

"I'm definitely more nervous than anything. But it's a great feeling to be one of the top guys," Hora told Eyewitness News.

Just last year, several local prospects were picked in the draft including Justin Bailey of Williamsville who was drafted by the Sabres. We asked Hora his thoughts about that happening to him.

"It'd be pretty amazing if the Sabres drafted me. Definitely, it doesn't matter where I go, but the Sabres would be one of the teams that I would love to go to."

Hora says he expects to be drafted in rounds 4-7 of the draft, which continues on Saturday at 10am.
