Lackawanna, NY (WKBW-TV) -- It has been a rough 24 hours for hundreds of motorists trapped in their vehicles overnight, with no word on when they will get moving again.
"There's nothing you can do about it, you just hope for the best and hope they can speed it up a little faster," said Jeff Havens, a stranded driver.
"Thank god for smart phones and a lot of Facebook keeping my friends up to date with what's going on," said Bruce Finley, also trapped along the I-90.
Sergeant Tom Krawcxyk of the New York State park police, as well as other emergency personnel, travelled from door to door handing out food and water.
"Everybody's checking on us has been fantastic," commented Christine Berry.
Workers also brought in hay for 'Yankee Scholar,' a race-horse also stranded in one of the trucker's trailer.
"Oh he's good, he's got blankets on and plenty of hay and water," said Vance Berry, the driver transporting the horse.
Other drivers opted to wait out the storm at local shelters, including a senior center in Cheektowaga, like Rick Speranzioso, "My truck is still on the I-90 and no one is moving from where we are."
It seems like an uphill battle, workers feverishly trying to clear a path nearly six miles long, stretching from the Lackawanna toll plaza to the 33, including a string of stopped drivers on the 219 merging to the 90 East. Nonetheless, drivers are trying to make-do the best way they can.
