WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WKBW)- Officials opened up 13 drug drop-off sites across Western New York, including one at West Seneca Senior Center.
There are no questions asked when drugs are dropped off. This type of event happens twice a year.
However, Senator Schumer says twice a year isn't enough. He wants pharmacies to be able to take back drugs at any time.
Schumer is also calling on the federal government to fund a buy-back program for drugs similar to the one now in place for guns.
New York State has already passed a bill allowing pharmacies to take back prescription drug medications at anytime. However, it cannot be implemented until the Drug Enforcement Administration changes federal regulations.
