TOWN OF BOSTON, NY ( release ) Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports a motor vehicle crash on Rt. 219 Expressway, leaving a local man dead.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Accident Investigation Unit, is investigating a single car crash on the Rt. 219 expressway, at the Zimmerman overpass. The vehicle was heading northbound when the driver lost control, resulting in the vehicle’s driver’s side striking a concrete embankment.
North Boston Fire Company, Boston Fire Company and Boston Rescue Squad responded to the scene.
The driver was transported by Rural Metro ambulance to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, upon arrival.
John F. Chrosniak Jr. age 52, of Springville, was travelling north on Route 219 when the vehicle that he was driving veered off of the East side of the roadway, went up an embankment, and struck the concrete base of the Zimmerman Road overpass.
Mr. Chrosniak, who was alone in the car, was taken to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was most likely travelling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred.
The investigation is continuing to determine why the car left the roadway.
