The Buffalo Catholic Diocese will install it's 14th leader in ceremonies set for St. Joseph's Cathedral this friday downtown. Bishop Richard J. Malone, who is currently the Bishop of Portland Maine, will take over from the retiring Bishop Edward Kmiec. Bishop Malone will also continue to oversee the Portland Diocese until the Vatican Names a successor. Bishop Malone is 66 years old and has spent his entire life in New England. He says the call from the Vatican came as a complete shock, but he didn't hesitate in saying yes, when asked to come and lead the Catholic Church in Western New York.
