Dog Flu

Story Updated: Aug 17, 2009
You've heard of swine flu. Now, apparently, there's dog flu.
So far, six dogs in Fairfax County, Virginia have been infected -- and one has
died. The new dog flu is highly contagious among animals, but only deadly in a small percentage of dogs. Humans cannot get the virus.
Symptoms include sneezing, coughing, wheezing and a decreased appetite.
A vaccine is still being tested, so officials say it's best to look for the signs and go to the vet if you're dog isn't well.
