Doctors say a cold begins with a sore throat that usually goes away after a day or two and is followed by a runny nose, congestion and then, a cough. It shouldn't last more than a week.
Flu symptoms are usually more severe and come on quickly. They include sore throat, fever, headache, muscle aches and soreness, congestion, and cough, and fatigue could last more than a week.
