BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) Project Soar is sponsored by Cradle Beach and it works to help urban students who struggle academically, socially, or economically.

Currently, the program is helping 220 students in 3rd to 7th grade at three Buffalo Public elementary schools; Southside, Lorraine, and the Lovejoy Discovery School.

Sixty new students are selected into the program each year, and during a 10-year commitment, they are monitored by Cradle Beach.

Project Soar provides mentors, without cost, to work side-by-side with teachers in schools to provide additional tutoring to selected students.

The program also provides year-round field trips and several retreats at Cradle Beach.
