WILLIAMSVILLE, NY (WKBW) Andrew Erdman is preparing to represent Western New York on the national stage, competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.

Erdman recently won the Buffalo News Spelling Bee to advance to the national bee. Erdman is already practicing with family members for his trip to Washington, D.C.

An eighth grader at SS. Peter and Paul School is preparing for what's known to competitive spellers as "Bee Week," which runs from May 25 through May 31 this year in Washington. During Bee Week, Erdman must complete a written test to make it to the televised portion of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Eyewitness News will continue to follow Andrew Erdman's progress.
