Hamburg, N.Y. (WKBW) – The Hamburg Board of Education held a meeting Tuesday night that quickly turned into Executive Session for a hearing to oust one of their members.

Catherine Forcucci is charged with Official Misconduct. These charges stem from alleged altercations she had with board members and staff in the district. The board and community members also claim that Forcucci has a strict agenda that does not include the best interest of the district or its students.

“The problem started when she got on there was a very strong agenda with board members and it really had nothing to do with children. Once the community found out they were not going to stand for it and they wanted to right the wrong,” resident Ed Piazza said.

There is other controversy surrounding this issue. The board is holding these hearings in Executive Session, with no media or community members allowed to hear the proceedings. The board claims they are doing this to minimize turmoil within the district. Forcucci’s attorney Margaret Murphy said this is not the correct way to go about the process.

“Unfortunately, the board made its decision for whatever reason that it would go into and Executive Session, closing the doors to both the press and the public who I believe if you had the opportunity to hear what was going to be presented you would have the opportunity to present information,” Murphy said.
