CHEEKTOWAGA, NY ( WKBW ) Dozens of area students were honored Thursday night for "Doing The Right Thing!"

This awards ceremony was hosted by the Cheektowaga Police Department at the Millenium Hotel, putting the spotlight on some outstanding students.

These young people completed random acts of kindness, and serve as role models among their peers.

On Thursday, the honorees included a Cheektowaga High School student who's story was featured on "Eyewitness News" when she stopped during a long distance race to help a runner who had collapsed before reaching the finish line.

That included Kaylea Rustay who helped pull the collapsed runner across the finish line.

Any adult from the community can nominate a student for a good deed...just contact the Cheektowaga Police Department.
