April 27: Saluting Trees and the Food They Grow

Today is National Arbor Day, a holiday dedicated to planting trees to help nature and our environment. That makes this the perfect time to reflect on some of the trees we've visited and featured on the Mr. Food show over the years.



We did a terrific show from an apple orchard during the peak of apple season. With so many fresh-off-the-tree crunchy varieties to sink our teeth into and add to our recipes all year 'round, they are autumn at its best.whenever we want!



Not long ago we "oohed" and "ahhed" over the lush, lava-rich fields where macadamia nuts are king! Who wouldn't love to pop some of those crispy, creamy beauties in their mouths?



We went nuts over pistachios! Even the way they are removed from the trees had us "all shook up!" Then there were rows and rows of sweet-as-can-be fig trees to explore. It was kind of like being in our own little Garden of Eden!



One place we'll never forget doing a taste test is the lychee groves. Call them a fruit, call them a nut, either way.mmm! After that we went wild over coconuts, and put the squeeze on loads of tangy fruit in tangerine groves.



Oh, I just love trees and all that they produce! I've only mentioned a few types.we've featured so many more! And on this Arbor Day, let's celebrate the fruits of the trees' labor, because every one brings us a richer, more delicious...
