Police Looking For Identification of Woman Known As "Grandma Doe"}

By Aaron Baskerville

Police say "Grandma Doe" was found in September of 1995 near Squaw Island. Investigators say she is between 60 and 70 years old and apparently drowned during that time. She has never been identified.

Buffalo Police detective Lisa Redman says, "We have no answers. We can't even begin to start an investigation because we don't know who the victim is. There-in lies the difficulty. We don't know is she was a victim of foul play. We don't know anything about her."

Investigators are now releasing a new sketch of the woman, looking to jog anyone's memory. They say she was well-dressed and well-nourished, wearing a white trench coat and butterfly pin when she found 12 years ago.

Redman says, "It could be anyone's grandmother. It could be the lady down the street that watered the flowers. Somebody, somebody in Buffalo knows who she is. I hope that we can put a marker on that unmarked grave."
