In 2008, our friend Cary Speier—of Speier Display and Party Rentals—learned that he has a form of appendiceal cancer known as PMP*. It is so rare that there is only about 1 person with PMP for every 1,000,000 people in the United States.
Because PMP is such a rare condition, there is little knowledge of it in the medical community and little research is being done to find better treatments. This is why it is so important to promote awareness so that an appropriate standard of treatment is recognized and money is raised/made available for research. We are planning this benefit party in his honor to raise funds to help with his treatment and also support future research.
“It’s a Wonderful Life" is Cary’s favorite movie, and the title really sums up his view of the world. The film has always spoken to him. Maybe it’s because--like the movie’s main character, George Bailey—Cary’s gift also is in helping people see possibilities. In the film, when George Bailey needed help, his friends were there for him. That’s where we hope you will come in.
We hope that you will purchase a ticket and attend the event. We are also seeking your support in the form of prize donations to enhance our silent auction and raffle drawings. Any other in-kind donations that will enhance the party and help to maximize the funds we can raise that day will be greatly appreciated.
Tickets are $25 each. Please send your check - payable to to "Friends of Cary Speier" - along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:
52 Ardmore Place
Buffalo, NY 14213
We hope that you will help to promote ticket sales for the event. Please let us know if we can count on your support.
We expect to have several thousands of dollars in prizes and merchandise up for grabs in our silent and raffle auctions, and activities for the kids, so bring the whole family.
