In celebration of the fall season, free horse-drawn hay rides will be offered at the Independent Health Foundation’s Good for the Neighborhood program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at West Side Community Services, 161 Vermont St., Buffalo.
The hay rides are one of many activities planned for the Good for the Neighborhood event. This month, participants will learn about the importance of building a relationship with their primary doctor and how to do so. They are also encouraged to bring a list of their medications to talk with a pharmacist and ask any questions they may have.
This free event will also include a farmers’ market with fresh fruits and vegetables, a healthy cooking demonstration and healthy food samples, and health screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and body mass index. More than 200 people are expected to attend.
