LEARNING HOW TO HAVE A HEALTHY BRAIN TOPIC OF EDUCATIONAL SERIES AT EMERITUS SENIOR LIVING

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – One of Emeritus Senior Living’s Williamsville locations, Emeritus at Bassett Manor will host a series of presentations on the topic of Brain Health beginning January 22, 2013 at 6:00pm. The community, located at 245 Bassett Road, Williamsville provides assisted living and/or memory care services.
Emeritus is committed to a bold initiative to lead in the application of brain health across the lifespan. The senior living company’s partner in forging ahead is Dr. Paul Nussbaum, a nationally known clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in healthy aging and brain health. Locally, Emeritus at Bassett Manor will showcase its Brain Health initiative with a 6-month series presented by Deborah Jerge, Life Enrichment Director at the community. Ms. Jerge’s experience with seniors, their lifestyles, and her passion to create quality of life for the elderly, has stemmed from a career in long term care and most recently her 7 years at Emeritus. “I’ve always had a desire to help seniors make the most of each day by helping them regain independence, revive a hobby or interest that was once lost, or create and foster a new friendship or talent they didn’t know they had,” said Jerge.
Emeritus’ Brain Health program consists of five key areas: social/emotional, spiritual, physical activity, mental/intellectual and nutritional. At the January presentation, participants will get an overview of the key areas, plus have the opportunity to take the Brain Self Assessment quiz to learn their current level of brain health.
