Event Description
Join us on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Erie Basin Marina at the Hatch for our 3rd annual 5K Run, Walk and Wheel. There are three choices of walk, run or wheel events that you can choose from. First, is our one mile walk that begins at the Hatch. Then, our three mile walk goes through Buffalo’s beautiful waterfront. Lastly, the 5K route begins at the Hatch and goes around the waterfront, past First Niagara Center, down South Park to Michigan Avenue, then to Scott Street and back to Erie Basin Marina.
There is a $15.00 registration fee with $25.00 minimum pledges (combined). Children 10 and under are free for the walk. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and starts at 9:30 a.m. with a picnic lunch, music and raffles to follow. All of the proceeds from the Walk, Run & Wheel will benefit Headway of WNY, Inc., which will help create more advocacy and support for those with brain injuries.
Headway of Western New York, Inc. is a non-profit agency that provides support groups, advocacy, educational materials, recreational opportunities, resource and referral services as well as linkage for case management, educational in-services for students, healthcare professionals and service providers. Headway of WNY is the Regional Resource Development Center for the DOH Medical Waivers for TBI and NHTD. Through advocacy and education, Headway of WNY supports people with brain injuries, along with their families, for their right to dignity and enjoyment of life. Headway of WNY promotes prevention through community awareness.
