Event Description

January 25, 2011 Updated Jan 25, 2011 at 5:04 PM EDT

In our continued commitment toward Community Policing, the Cheektowaga Police Department Crime Resistance Unit will once again be sponsoring its Citizens’ Police Academy.

The next Citizens’ Police Academy will begin on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM and run for 13 weeks, culminating with a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. The application deadline is set for February 2, 2011.

The Academy is open to anyone who is at least 21 years of age, resides and/or is employed in the Town of Cheektowaga, and does not have a criminal record. Class size and space is limited and we will be selecting only students who are willing to participate in the classes and be available each week for the length of the course, which will be thirteen (13) weeks.

The sessions will consist of lectures, demonstrations and “hands-on” police training. The course will be taught by members of our department who are highly trained, experienced and certified in their individual fields.

There will be no exams, tests, or fees. The police department will provide all materials and notebooks. The only requirement is that you attend each and every weekly session and participate in the classes.

If you have any further questions please contact Lt. Mark J. Petruniak or Officer Paul Nazzarett, at 275 Alexander Avenue, Cheektowaga, NY 14211, 897-7293 for further information and full details.
