– The Williamsville SEPTSA (Special Education Parent Teacher Student Association) announces its January programs:
“Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders”
“New IEP Requirements Mandated by New York State”
These programs will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the board room at the Williamsville Central District Offices, 105 Casey Road, East Amherst.
The “New IEP Requirements Mandated by New York State” presentation is from 6:30 – 7:00 pm.
This presentation will provide an update of the Part 200 regulations and review of the recently issued mandated NYS IEP with a focus upon the Present Levels of Performance statements as the basis for instructional supports, services, and recommended programs.
This will be presented by Dr. Anna Cieri, Assistant Superintendent of Exceptional Education and Student Services, Cheryl Lazzaro and Beth Foels, Coordinators of Special Education, Williamsville Central Schools.
The “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders” presentation begins at 7:00 pm.
This presentation will focus on best practice approaches for parenting children with challenging behaviors. Dr. Rebecca Vujnovic, University at Buffalo, will focus on effective strategies for elementary school-age children. Dr. Greg Fabiano, University at Buffalo, will focus on parenting adolescents, with an emphasis on effectively parenting children with ADHD during the transition to driving.
SEPTSA is for everyone. All are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
