Carol Wolf will be signing copies of her new book, “Biblical Storytelling In Youth Ministry” from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 at the Holiday Art & Craft Show to be held at Central Park United Methodist Church, 216 Beard Avenue in Buffalo. Books will be available for $10 each. She previously appeared at Bender’s Parable Christian Store in Williamsville, promoting her book which focuses on stories of young people in the Bible who are at a critical spiritual awareness stage of their lives.
By creating parallels with Biblical characters, Wolf’s book can be used to help children today learn many life lessons. The story of Hoglah is an example of learning to speak up against injustice. Children learn about building wisdom and strength of character from Deborah. Samuel teaches children to listen and respond with willingness. Jesus in the temple helps explore relationships between parents and their maturing children. The story of Jairus’ daughter examines what to do with opportunities for a new beginning. The goal is to help parents, teachers and others learn how to transmit the art of storytelling to today’s youth.
In spite of her background of over ten years in Biblical storytelling and a repertoire of some 50 to 60 Biblical characters, Wolf is still discovering new stories to tell about courageous people who speak to us yet today. She concludes, “When faced with moral choices or uncertainty in today’s world, we can always turn to the Bible for direction and inspiration.”
Wolf’s first book, “Journey Into Prayer” will also be available for $8. This thoughtfully prepared work is a log book for the spiritual wayfarer. Here she takes readers along a path to build a prayer routine by looking for glimpses of God’s goodness, praying for others, praying through Scriptures, listening to God in meditation and responding to prayer insights.
Information will also be available on “An Explosion of the Word of God through Story, Drama and Music.” Sponsored by the Network of Biblical Storytellers WNY Guild, this two-day event at Church of the Nativity in January will feature Daughters of Creative Sound, a Telling of the Stories of Titus and Philemon, academic interpretations, Women of the Well, and Biblical Storytelling workshops.
Carol is a speaker and national retreat/workshop leader who will design an event that is inspirational, motivational, informational and fun. Programs can be adapted for teens, adults or intergenerational groups. In 2011 she will be speaking on Unknown Women of the Bible at a luncheon at Niagara Community Church in Niagara Falls and leading a Women’s Prayer Breakfast in Alden.
