Teachers won’t want to miss the free professional development workshop offered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Energy Smart Students Program for K-12 educators. This interactive, hands-on workshop will teach educators how to bring cutting-edge lessons on energy efficiency and the environment into the classroom and is being offered at the Reinstein Nature Preserve in October.

The workshops will take place several days in October. Each workshop is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Reinstein Nature Preserve, located at 93 Honorine Drive, Depew, NY 14043.

Below listed are the dates, workshop title and grade level each workshop is geared toward.

Tuesday, October 5th: 4E’s of Energy – geared toward K-6 educators.
Thursday, October 7th: 4E’s of Energy – geared toward grade K-6 educators.
Monday, October 18th: Energy Trilogy – geared toward grade 7-12 educators.
Wednesday, October 20th: Energy Trilogy – geared toward grade 7-12 educators.

All curriculum and materials, developed by the National Energy Foundation (NEF), are aligned to New York State Education Department (NYSED) standards in Math, Science, Technology, Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Family and Consumer Sciences. Open to K-12 educators, including not-for-profit and agency educators, pre-service teachers, college professors, and other educational professionals.

The Energy Smart Students Program was created by NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation. NYSERDA funds research into energy supply and efficiency, as well as energy-related environmental issues, important to the well-being of New Yorkers.
