Housing Sales and Prices Jumped in May

The Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors says 892 single family homes sold in May, up 3.4 percent from May last year. For the first five months of this year, sales are down 2 percent. The average sale price is $130,000, up 5 percent. The federal home tax credit may continue to lift sales since it's been extended for deals in place by April 30.

New York State medical malpractice insurance rates are on the rise... going up five percent this year. State officials say it is the first rate increase in three years, but they call it a short term fix, saying the system is in crisis and needs to be reformed.

What's a summer vacation without a call to the office? A survey by Robert Half Management Resources says 69% of CFOs check in with the office at least once or twice during vacation, down from 74% five years ago. Researchers say relaxation allows workers to re-energize and be more productive.
