BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- A number of city streets and highways will be closed this weekend due to the Taste of Buffalo and other events downtown.
The Thruway Authority has announced that I-190 southbound will experience temporary lane closures this weekend from Exit 5 (Louisiana Street) to Exit 2 (Clinton Street) for concrete replacement work.
Crews will be working on the highway between 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday, which could create some traffic issues for people heading downtown.
From 7 p.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Saturday, Washington Street will be closed between Mohawk and Eagle Streets and Broadway/Lafayette will be closed from Ellicott Street to Main Street for an annual book fair.
The Taste of Buffalo will close down Niagara Square and surrounding streets from Noon Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Delaware Avenue will also be closed from Niagara Square to West Huron Street for the length of the Taste.
The NFTA Metro Rail service will continue to run through Midnight Saturday, and will be extended until 7:50 p.m. Sunday to accommodate riders at the Taste of Buffalo. The last train will leave the Erie Canal Harbor Station (HSBC Arena) at 7:50 p.m. Sunday evening.
