According to a report from Granite Broadcasting sister station Indiana's NewsCenter in Fort Wayne, Ind., an Indiana man made his stepson hold a sign at a street corner last week explaining why he was in trouble.

According to the report from Indiana's NewsCenter:

The fourth-grader was holding a sign that said "Honk 4 Like. I have to stand here because I cussed out a teacher."

The by and his stepfather stood at an intersection while cars passed by honking and people approached the boy teasing him a little bit. According to the stepfather, the boy was suspended from school for two days for cussing out his teachers.

The stepfather says he's had a lot of trouble with the boy lately and when he saw this idea on TV a few weeks ago, he thought public humiliation might do the boy some good.

"It seemed that grounding and different punishments around the house wasn't doing it," the stepfather said. "So I figured I'd get him out here on the street corner and advertise to all his friends and neighbors."

Since the boy couldn't attend school, the stepfather had him stand out on the corner for the span of the school day. When Indiana's NewsCenter spoke with him Tuesday morning, the stepfather said he didn't think it had sunk in yet, but that if it didn't sink end by the end of the day, it definitely would by the end of the second day.

The boy wasn't that willing to talk but he did say he would rather be in school than out holding that sign.
