(WKBW release) The New York State Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that construction is continuing on the Interstate 190/Interstate 290 interchange in the town of Tonawanda in Erie County.
As a result, the ramp from Interstate 190 southbound to Interstate 290 eastbound (Exit 16) will be closed to truck traffic beginning on Monday, August 22. This truck traffic closure will be in effect for approximately seven to ten days. The ramp will remain open to cars.
A detour route will direct truck traffic to continue southbound on Interstate 190 to Exit 15, NY Route 324. Truck traffic should then proceed east on NY Route 324 and follow the posted signs to re-enter Interstate 190 northbound to Interstate 290 eastbound.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
