BUFFALO, NY (WKBW/NYSDOT) -- The New York State Thruway Authority has announced the temporary closure of two E-ZPass lanes on southbound I-190 (Niagara Thruway) at the North Grand Island Bridge Toll Plaza for concrete repairs.
Concrete replacement work at the Toll Plaza is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., Monday, July 19, and continue through 3 p.m., Friday, August 6.
Each day, Lane 1 and Lane 2 (5-mph E-ZPass) on the right side of the Toll Plaza will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. At approximately 3 p.m. each day Lane 1 will re-open for traffic. Lane 2 will remain closed for the duration of the project.
Currently the southbound North Grand Island Bridge Toll Plaza has seven operating lanes, including two 20-mph E-ZPass lanes on the left side of the plaza.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 1610 AM will be activated to notify motorists of the lane closures and any resulting delays.
The Thruway Authority appreciates motorists' patience during these necessary repairs.
