Clarence, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- New York State Police Troop A donated new and gently used books to the U.S. National Defense Force Support Command on Wednesday.
Members of the State Police collected books from Memorial Day through Independence Day for their annual drive to support the sick and wounded warriors at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Buffalo and Bath.
In the past three years members of the State Police have donated nearly 8,000 books to the US National Defense Force Support Command in the continued effort to supply the libraries that have been created at the VA hospitals through this initiative. This year’s drive resulted in the collection of nearly 4,000 books from the Troopers and their families.
“These books are a small token of appreciation to our present and past brave veterans for there service to our country. They should know that we will always be indebted to them for the sacrifices they have made for America,” Captain Steven A. Nigrelli said.
