(WKBW release) New York Senator Charles E. Schumer on Tuesday announced that the U.S. Department of Interior awarded a total of $686,919 in Boater Infrastructure Grant funding to the Gratwick Park Marina, administered through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Specifically, the investment will allow for transient dock and bulkhead replacement and the construction of landside restrooms.
“Maintaining our parks and landings, especially Gratwick Park, is essential to helping our recreational boaters and fishers,” Schumer said in a news release. “In these tough economic times, we should do all we can to make a father and son fishing day or a family outing on the river as rewarding as possible.”
The Boating Infrastructure Grant Program provides grant funds to the states and insular areas to construct, renovate, and maintain tie-up facilities with features for transient boaters in vessels 26 feet or more in length, and to produce and distribute information and educational materials about the program and recreational boating.
