(WKBW release) Monday, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz welcomed Dr. Ellen Grant as the new Commissioner of Senior Services for Erie County.
According to a news release:
Most recently serving as Director of Cornerstone Manor in Buffalo, Dr. Grant also has extensive experience in the health care field, having worked with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, Buffalo General Hospital and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, among others. Additionally, Dr. Grant served as Erie County Commissioner of Mental Health under former Erie County Executive Dennis Gorski from 1988-2000.
“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Grant to my administration, and look forward to working with her,” said Poloncarz. “Her vast experience in the health care field, diverse professional experiences and achievements, and knowledge of Erie County make her the ideal candidate for the position of Commissioner of Senior Services. I would also like to thank Phil Endress, our Commissioner of Mental Health who also served in the role of interim Commissioner of Senior Services while this search was conducted; Phil’s hard work, dedication, and leadership were much needed and are greatly appreciated. ”
“I’m looking forward to joining the Poloncarz administration in this new role. With nearly 22% of Erie County citizens over age 60, it’s important that they have a voice in shaping the services delivered to them,” said Grant. “Issues from health care delivery to the basic needs of daily living are important for all of us, so I’m eager to ensure our team in the Senior Services department is doing our best to meet these needs.”
