(Niagara County Sheriff's Office news release) At 4:22 Tuesday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a resident on Bear Ridge Road in the Town of Pendleton.
According to a news release:
The caller stated that an accident just occurred in front of his residence and that one of the vehicles was attempting to leave. Niagara County Sheriff Patrols arrived on scene and found two vehicles badly damaged on the west shoulder of Bear Ridge Road. Neither vehicle was occupied.
While on scene, a passerby stopped and stated that there was a female lying in a ditch approximately 1/8 of a mile south of the accident scene. Patrol found a 17-year-old girl from the Ransomville area, semi-conscious on Bear Ridge Road.
An ambulance was called to the scene and the girl was taken by Rural Metro to ECMC for minor lacerations and possible internal injuries.
After investigating, it appears that the female was northbound on Bear Ridge Rd. when she suddenly swerved into the southbound lane, losing control of her 2002 Toyota. The vehicle continued northbound striking two mailboxes and then a 2005 Ford Ranger that was parked on the west shoulder of the road.
After striking the vehicle, she allegedly attempted to flee in her damaged vehicle until the vehicle would go no further. She then got out and walked down the road where she was found. She is currently charged with Driving while Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and several other NYS Vehicle and Traffic charges.
