(WKBW release) New York assemblyman John Ceretto on Wednesday introduced Nik Wallenda to the entire Assembly chamber.
In the course of his introduction, Ceretto mentioned how the Wallenda event will be broadcasted and viewed by millions of people around the globe and that the event will help showcase Niagara Falls as a premier tourist destination, which will help generate tourism dollars and other opportunities for the region.
Wallenda was in Albany to meet with officials from the state Parks Department to discuss security and other logistics for the upcoming event.
“I was proud to be the sponsor of legislation that will allow Nik to traverse the Niagara Gorge,” Assemblyman Dennis H. Gabryszak said. “This event will serve as an economic boon in the Western New York area, with an estimated number of 100,000 people attending and millions watching worldwide.”
“Nik’s traverse over the gorge will showcase WNY in a positive light and his courageous message of achieving dreams will serve as inspiration for many,” Gabryszak added. “Thank you to my colleagues in the Assembly, Senate as well as our colleagues on the Canadian side for allowing Nik’s dream of walking over the falls to come true.”
Wallenda is expected to walk sometime towards the end of summer 2012.
