Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- The Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York received a $14,000 grant Tuesday from the UPS Foundation during a presentation at the UPS Customer Center.
The funds will be used to purchase audio-visual equipment for Meals on Wheels' Community Learning Center, a multipurpose facility that opened in 2009 and is part of the organization's commissary complex. The center is available to local nonprofit organizations to further advance their community-centered missions through trainings, fundraisers and other special events.
“Many nonprofits operate on small budgets, and do not have spaces for employee trainings, outreach seminars and even fundraisers. Through the grant from the UPS, we will be able to fully equip our learning center to provide a better educational experience for community members,” said Benjamin A. Gair III, chief executive officer at Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York.
The Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York, Inc. raises awareness and financial support for Meals on Wheels programs throughout the region to ensure that every person who has a limited ability to prepare or obtain proper nutrition can be served through home-delivered meal programs.
