Mayor Announces Graffiti Arrests

September 27, 2013 Updated Aug 18, 2011 at 5:10 PM EDT

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown on Thursday announced arrests for graffiti at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.

A seventeen-year-old male and a juvenile tagged the entryway of an adjacent building of the Albright-Knox at 1285 Elmwood Avenue, at approximately 3 a.m. Thursday morning.

Buffalo police arrested 17-year-old Michael Lawler of Buffalo, and a male juvenile and charged them with making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments.

“Marking properties with graffiti is unacceptable. It’s vandalism, plain and simple, and we will not tolerate it,” said Brown. “Our police are doing an excellent job of finding more and more of the people who are responsible for these crimes.”

Buffalo police have made a number of recent arrests in connection to graffiti, including in South Buffalo and in the Grant-Amherst area.
