(WKBW release) Residents recently passed a transportation proposition that extends the minimum mileage limits for students who qualify for transportation next school year.
According to a news release:
The proposition was part of a strategy to help close next year’s budget gap and to decrease transportation costs in the upcoming school years.
Families are advised to visit the school district home page:
The link contains detailed information on the new limits, how mileage is computed, as well as maps depicting the newly expanded “walker” zones surrounding each school. If parents cannot tell if their household is within the new “walker” zones they should call their individual school(s) of attendance for the 2012-2013 school year to inquire directly. Parents are urged to call the district’s transportation department at 874-8611 if they were not able to determine eligibility after calling the respective school(s).
Official letters indicating bus stop locations and pick up times will be mailed from the transportation department in late August to the qualified households.
