(WKBW release) The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority announced Friday that Sam Hoyt has been elected chairman of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority board of directors.
“I look forward to my upcoming term as Chairman and plan to continue much of the great work that has been done to make the Peace Bridge a premier international border crossing,” Hoyt said in a news release. “As we all know, the Peace Bridge is also an important trade and tourism conduit for Buffalo Niagara, and any additional facility upgrades or renovations we can undertake will only improve the corridor’s overall efficiency, reduce congestion, and make border travel that much easier.”
Hoyt is currently the Regional President for Regional Economic Development for Empire State Development Corporation. Prior to joining ESD, he served for almost 20 years as the Assembly representative for the 144th Assembly District located in Western New York.Hoyt resides in the City of Buffalo and is a graduate of Buffalo State College.
Anthony Annunziata was elected Vice Chairman. He is the Vice President of Marketing for the Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa, and the Marriott Gateway on the Falls, both of Niagara Falls, Ontario. He has an extensive background in advertising, strategic marketing, and international tourism.
This is Hoyt’s first term as chairman. He was initially appointed to the board in August 2011 by New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald. Annunziata is now serving his third non-consecutive term as vice chairman. He was first appointed to the board by the Government of Canada in January 2007.
