Holidays Bursting with Color at the Botanical Gardens

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens has a busy and fun schedule planned for the holiday season.  

This year, the holidays will include the annual Poinsettia Show, an expanded Garden Railway Exhibit to include Thomas the Train from November 25 – January 1, a Tropical Holiday Brunch on December 7 at Romanello’s, a Holiday Celebration on December 10 and Dollar Admission Day on December 30.  

The Poinsettia Show and Garden Railway Exhibit are sure to brighten up the winter season with thousands of poinsettias in 17 varieties displayed throughout the conservatory. Picasso, Marble, Mars, Whitestar, Marblestar, Orion, Maren and Lipstick Pink are just a few of the beautiful varieties in the show.  Each poinsettia bursts with color among the lush green backdrop. 

The Western New York Garden Railway Society adds some whimsy to the show with a train exhibit that is double the size this year.  Two trains, one of which will be Thomas the Train, will have visitors of all ages entertained.

Garden admission from November 25 - January 1 includes the Poinsettia Show and the Garden Railway Exhibit (10am-5pm daily).  Prices are $8 Adults, $7 Seniors (55+) & Students (13+ with ID), $4 Kids 3-12, Members and kids under 3 are Free! Purchase tickets at the door or online at www.buffalogardens.com. The Gardens will close at 12pm on Christmas Eve, closed all day on Christmas Day and close at 12pm on New Year’s Eve.

The Tropical Holiday Brunch will be held at Romanello’s South on December 7. This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with friends, enjoy a delicious brunch, learn many things about tropical plants and try your luck on an exciting basket raffle.  The Botanical Gardens fundraising brunch is hosted by a dynamic group of Garden volunteers and even includes a free gift.

Brunch tickets include a tropical-themed brunch, a free gift, an outstanding basket raffle, tropical plant care information and more!  Tickets are $24 for Garden members, $27 for non-members and can be purchased by calling 716.827.1584 ext. 204 or online at www.buffalogardens.com.

The Holiday Celebration 10am - 2pm on December 10 includes all kinds of Holiday fun.  Among the Poinsettia Show and Garden Railway Exhibit, the Holiday Celebration will include hands-on kids activities and crafts from 11am-2pm ($2 per child) and photos with Santa are free if taken with your own camera but if you would like a print from Santa’s helpers, prints are $5 each.

The Holiday festivities come to a close with Dollar Admission Day on December 30. Enjoy the beautiful Gardens for only $1.00!  Kids under 3 and members are always free.
