BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- The temperatures are not breaking any records -- yet.

But Western New Yorkers and the rest of Upstate are using more electricity than ever before, according to provider National Grid.

The utility says its customers used a record 6,804 megawatts of electricity between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, surpassing the previous all-time high set in Upstate New York of 6,692 megawatts on August 2, 2006.

In a news release, the company said it undertook readiness activities to make sure the network could handle the additional demand.
