Canada Collapses, Russia strikes Gold at World Juniors

Buffalo (WKBW.com) They came , they saw, they collapsed. Team Canada let a 3-0 lead slip away, and then watched as Russia rallied for a 5-4 victory, in the gold medal game at the World Junior Hockey Championships on Wednesday night.



It's the first championship for Russia at the World Juniors since 2003.



Brayden Schenn gave Canada a 3-0 lead on the power play in the second period, but then it was all Russia.



Artemi Panarin, and Maxim Kitsyn scored goals for Russia just 13 seconds apart to start the third. Vladimir Tarasenko tied things at 3 less then 5 minutes later. Panarin would score his second of the period to give Russia the 4-3 lead at 55:22, and that would go down as the winner.



Nikita Dvurechenski added Russia's 5th goal of the period in a comeback for the ages. It's the third time that Russia game from behind in the World Juniors tournament, also beating Finland and Sweden in come from behind fashion.
