Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- The Butler Mitchell Alumni Association is sponsoring a City Kids @ Summer Camp “Night of Champions” fundraiser on July 21 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Buffalo.
The event, which will run from 6-11 p.m., will directly support camper funding to provide Buffalo inner city kids with an outdoor adventure of a lifetime, which they may otherwise be unable to attend for financial or other reasons.
Proceeds from the Night of Champions will give these children the opportunity to enjoy an atmosphere in a country setting that is far different from the asphalt and influences of the city streets.
The “Night of Champions” bash will feature the support and appearance of several local and national sports celebrities including Hall of Famers from the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres, the NFL, the NHL, Mixed Martial Arts, collegiate and other sports figures.
The event will feature music, live and silent auctions, various raffles and an exciting live martial arts demonstration. Food and drinks will be served at stations around the room.
Buffalo City Court Justice Craig Hannah, is the co- chairman of the Camp and over the years, Judge Hannah has spent the entire week at the camp mentoring and serving these children along with eight Buffalo Police officers, members of the Erie County Sheriffs Mounted Division and Butler Alumni members. The outdoor adventure camp called Camp Weona, is owned and operated by the YMCA. The positive effect of City Kids @ Summer Camp has been life changing for these children and their families.
There will also be a special recognition at the event for former Erie County Sheriff Joe Joseph, a former Butler Mitchell member who passed away recently. Sheriff Joseph was a regular participant at the camp with the Sheriffs Mounted Division.
The Night of Champions is open to the public. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by calling JRC Promotions at 716-694-7867.
