BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) It's the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Western New York, and that means parades, festivals, and fireworks.

Cheektowaga held its 35th annual 4th of July parade, and at Riverside, the Friendship Festival kicked off with a parade of its own. The festival celebrates the relationship between the U.S. and Canada. Marching in the parade was Mayor Byron Brown.

"To see so many people along the parade route with their children and grandchildren, supporting independence and the relationship between the US and Canada. This is one of the best parades in the state of New York, maybe the country," Brown said.

Then, fireworks. From Cheektowaga to the waterfront, the Northtowns to the Southern Tier, the night sky was lit up, wishing America a happy birthday. capping off America's birthday... with the ultimate birthday candle
