BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Buffalo Police have suspended three officers without pay for their roles in an off-duty bar fight in early May.
The incident happened after the annual Buffalo Police Benevolent Association awards dinner at Salvatore's in Lancaster. A number of officers went to a nearby bar after the dinner where an altercation occurred.
Buffalo Police officials are not commenting as the case is still under investigation, however they have confirmed the following.
Officers Joseph Wendel and Joseph Paskiewicz have been suspended without pay on a charge of consuming alcohol while in uniform, while Officer Christopher Pliszka was suspended on a charge of throwing a punch at an off-duty NFTA officer.
Lt. Gregory Kwiatkowski was not suspended, but is under investigation by the department to determine if he failed to take the necessary supervisory steps to stop the fight.
An informal hearing on the case is expected for sometime Thursday to determine of the officers will contest the suspensions.
