Tops Markets is looking for help from the Amherst IDA on its multi-year, $90 million store renovation plan. Company officials want to revamp the University Plaza store and a recently-converted Quality Market on Main Street in the Village of Williamsville. Tops is seeking a $1.2 million package for both projects. Business First says the Amherst IDA will consider the package when it meets Friday morning.

The Erie County IDA approved a $239,000 abatement package for New Era Cap's expansion in Derby. That expansion will cost $1.3 million. The Derby plant will be New Era's only U.S. manufacturing operation, since New era closed its Alabama plant. 300 people work at the Derby operation.

The ECIDA also approved an incentive package for Steuben Foods to expand in Elma. Steuben is counting on other public sector incentives for the $52 million project. It could add 150 new jobs.
