Local Soldier Injured in Roadside Bomb

Blasdell, N.Y. (WKBW) - At her mother's home in Blasdell, Erin Craumer breathes a sigh of relief.
She found out Monday, Her husband, 25-year old Staff Sgt. Casey Craumer survived a roadside bomb blast in Southern Afghanistan.
"He's alive, that's all that matters" , says Erin.
Casey serves in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and it's believed his platoon was attacked while performing foot patrols.
Violence in that part of the country has been escalating as NATO forces continue to try and push out a Taliban stronghold.
Craumer is now recovering at a hospital in Germany and is expected to return home within the next several days.
