BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- A new report released by the Public Accountability Initiative provides an analysis of publicly-subsidized Bass Pro-anchored economic development projects in cities across the country.

The report shows that Bass Pro-anchored projects have received hundreds of millions of dollars from local and state governments throughout the country based on promises that a Bass Pro store can promote economic development. The authors of the report say that these promised benefits have rarely materialized.

As the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation plans to allocate $35 million in direct subsidies to Bass Pro, the think tank's report raises questions on accuracy of tax revenue and job growth projections.

The group's full report, titled 'Fishing for Taxpayer Cash,' can be read in its entirety here.
