ALBANY, NY (WKBW/DOT) -- The New York State Thruway Authority announced Tuesday a striping project at Interchange 55 westbound (Springville, Orchard Park, U.S. Route 219, Ridge Road, Lackawanna, West Seneca) along I-90 will begin Wednesday, June 2, 2010, weather permitting. The required striping follows three weeks of repaving along I-90 from Interchange 54 (West Seneca, East Aurora, NY Routes 400 & 16) to the Lackawanna Toll Barrier.
The new striping and signing at Interchange 55 will begin at 8 p.m. on June 2, weather permitting, and will be complete prior to the morning commute on Thursday, June 3. To complete the work, there will be lane closures in the right and center lanes.
The new striping will allow motorists wishing to exit the Thruway at Interchange 55 to utilize two exit lanes. Motorists continuing westbound along I-90 will have two travel lanes as they proceed west on the mainline Thruway.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM and 1610 AM will be activated to notify motorists of the lane closures and any resulting delays.
