BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino made a grand entrance to the Erie Basin Marina in Buffalo. Hundreds of his supporters rallied behind him, fed up with what they say is reckless spending in Albany.
This is what Paladino supporter Dan Rider had to say about it all, "Too many give away programs, too many authorities spending money and authorities borrowing money to finance the state and no control by he taxpayers."
Today was the grand finale of Paladino's two-week canal tour, which began in Albany. He's trying to drum up support to clench the state republican endorsement at the upcoming convention in New York City. And Paladino is promising to shake things up in the capital.
"The waste, the fraud, the carelessness in our social welfare programs handing out ridiculous benefits to people. That's coming to an end," promised Paladino.
Democratic challenger for governor Andrew Cuomo is ahead in all the polls; however, Paladino told the crowd about Cuomo's shortcomings. Paladino says Cuomo did nothing to challenge the constitutionality of health care reform. Paladino and his supporters say it's a bill taxpayers can't afford
"If we don't change the leadership, all of our grandchildren and their grand children are going to be paying the debt that people are using now to support unfunded mandates and for deficit spending," said Paladino supporter Sam Iraci.
