Western New Yorkers and beyond will be soon be traveling all across the country to visit friends, family, and loved ones during this holiday weekend. There's some good news for drivers: gas prices are down across the board.
"Gas prices are currently at $2.96 a gallon," said AAA Western and Central New York Public Affairs Specialist Shaun Seufert, "That's down 4 cents from last week and down 8 cents from 3 weeks ago, so great news on the gasoline front."
With a busy long weekend expected, drivers could also expect delays at borders crossings. United States Border Patrol officials say to alleviate congestion, they're increasing staff and will try to keep all lanes open. They're also asking motorists to come prepared when crossing the border.
"Plan ahead a little bit, make sure you have proper documents with you, and make sure you present your documents as soon as you pull up to the officers. That will make it quicker for everyone," said U.S. Customs and Border Protection Public Affairs Officer Greg Bennett.
