ALBANY, NY (WKBW) -- Lawmakers have reached a tentative agreement to keep the more than 50 state parks and historic sites open through Memorial Day.

On a New York City talk show Thursday morning, Governor David Paterson said that after negotiating into the early morning hours, leaders in the Assembly and Senate have appeared to accept the governor's original proposal. This proposal would take money from the environmental protection fund and use it to maintain the keep open the parks.

Lawmakers are expect to meet Thursday afternoon to vote on the provision.
